About the Founder
New Horizons Impact was founded by Saherah Khan, a nonprofit strategist and advancement leader whose perspective is shaped by her experiences as the eldest daughter of South Korean and Pakistani immigrants and as a first-generation college graduate.
Raised on stories of sacrifice, resilience, and survival, Saherah has dedicated her career to expanding access to the capital and opportunities that were often out of reach for her own family.
Her experiences across cultures and institutions have reinforced a core belief: local leaders already possess the knowledge needed to create lasting change. What is too often missing is equitable access to the capital and relationships that allow them to grow. Through NHI, Saherah partners with organizations to translate their impact into focused strategies, stronger systems, and compelling opportunities for investment. She currently leads the firm with a growing network of strategists and specialized advisors who bring tailored expertise to every engagement.
Throughout her career, Saherah has worked alongside youth, teens, families, and community-based organizations across education, mental health, workforce development, and affordable housing. She is especially passionate about breaking cycles of generational poverty and ensuring that communities have the resources to shape their own futures.
Her experience also includes constituent services work in Virginia and Washington, D.C., where she helped residents navigate complex government systems and connect with critical resources. This work gave her firsthand insight into the power of advocacy to remove barriers and expand access to opportunity.
Saherah holds a BS in Business Management and a BA in Public and Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech, as well as a MS in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. During her graduate program, she completed her Practicum at UPenn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships, where she supported efforts to expand school-based mental health services in Philadelphia public schools.
